Hokay, so here it goes, sadface explanation

I figure that after a while Malik will wear himself down to almost nothing, he'll have no personal like, only his work and still be taking care of his sisters while some leave off to school he's still got to provide for the household. Habib will grow up but not be accustomed to working too much and leave most of the burden on Malik anyway. Sev will eventually go off to new vistas and Malik will still be taking care of the shop with his mother who's still vacant and emotionally boarded off after her husbands death.

Most of his joy is from taking care of his family but even that can sometimes be a tough burden and even after all these years he's still managed to hold onto one friend who doesn't think his workaholic nature and worn down everything is so bad. Luka for god knows what reason he still hangs around and has even sobered up enough to help out, making his life, (and his arranged Marriage) somewhat more bearable.
